Coy Ray Mayes, age 79, of Knoxville, TN passed away on Thursday August 26, 2021. He was born in New Tazewell, TN on October 19, 1941. He was a lifelong resident of Knoxville, TN. He worked as a mechanic, for Lift Truck until he retired in 2005. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, collecting knives, as well as going to garage sales with his wife.
He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years Irene Mayes, his sons Brian Mayes and wife Tina, Jeffery Mayes, James Mayes, his daughters Deborah Whitley and husband Garold, Vickie Rickard and husband Steve, Susan Hansford and husband Juan, and his brother Donald Mayes and wife Trish, several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Claude and Georgette Mayes, brother, Stanley Mayes, sisters Alma (Smelser) Johnson, Betty Ferguson, Linda Tallant.
