Bio: Joel was born at Wallingford, Ct. His father moved the family to Middletown when he was still a child and there he grew to manhood. He served in the Revolution. Joel married at Middletown Mar 23, 1786 Amelia Wetmore (of Scotch descent, either sister or cousin of Grace, the wife of his brother George) They went to Whitesboro, N.Y., about the time General Doolittle moved there, around 1786, soon after their marriage. After a few years residency there they moved to Smithfield, Madison Co., N.Y., afterwards to Sodus, Wayne Co., N.Y., where he died and was buried there.--- The Doolittle family in America Military service: (from gr-grandson William Marvin Olcott's SAR application)Served in Captain Douglas Company and paid from January first 1781 to December 31st 1781. Capt. Douglas Company who was stationed under the command of the Marquis de LaFayette.Lee.
