Bio: Joel was born at Wallingford, Ct. His father moved the family to Middletown when he was still a child and there he grew to manhood. He served in the Revolution. Joel married at Middletown Mar 23, 1786 Amelia Wetmore (of Scotch descent, either sister or cousin of Grace, the wife of his brother George) They went to Whitesboro, N.Y., about the time General Doolittle moved there, around 1786, soon after their marriage. After a few years residency there they moved to Smithfield, Madison Co., N.Y., afterwards to Sodus, Wayne Co., N.Y., where he died and was buried there.--- The Doolittle family in America Military service: (from gr-grandson William Marvin Olcott's SAR application)Served in Captain Douglas Company and paid from January first 1781 to December 31st 1781. Capt. Douglas Company who was stationed under the command of the Marquis de LaFayette.Lee. Pages 359 and 354, Connecticut Men of the RevolutionMajor Joel Doolittle was the brother of my 5th great-grandfather Samuel Doolittle. Son of Samuel Doolittle and Elizabeth hubbard. Husband of Amelia Wetmore. Father of nine children. Joel was born in Wallingford, CT and grew to manhood in Middletown, CT. He served in the American Revolution and after his marriage moved to Whitesboro, NY. At the time of his death, he resided in Sodus, Wayne Co., NY.
