OBITUARY
SOPHIA C BUYNAK
Sophia C. "Josie" Buynak, 85 of North Main Street, Wilkes Barre, died unexpectedly Tuesday morning in Wilkes Barre General Hospital shortly after admission.
She was bornin Wilkes Barre and was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Sophie (Fristik) Buynak. She was educated in the Wilkes Barre area schools and was a graduate of James M Coughlin Memorial High School, Wilkes Barre.
Until her retirement, Miss Buynak was employed as a supervisor to the former Mary MacIntosh Laundry Service Company of Wilkes Barre for 40 years.
She was a member of Sacred Heart/St. John's Parish Community, Wilkes Barre.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart Altar and Rosary Society and a former member of the Catholic Daughters of America.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, John, Stephen, Bernard, George, Michael, Nicholas, Frank, and Joseph Buynak.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Gvozdas, West Wyoming; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. from the John V. Morris Funeral Home, 625 N. Main St., Wilkes Barre, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30 in Sacred of Jesus Roman Catholic Church, North Main Street, Wilkes Barre. Rev. Joseph T. Gilbert, Parochial Vicar, will officiate.
Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Dallas.
Friends may call Friday 2 to 4 and 7to 9. The Altar and Rosary Society of Sacred Heart/St. John's Parish Community will recite the Rosary Friday at 3 p.m. A vigil service will be held Friday afternoon at the funeral home with Rev. Mr. Peter D. Hoegen, Permanent Deacon to Sacred/St. John's Parish Community officiating.
