Douglas W. Holcomb, 89, of Arcadia, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2021, at the Kearney Regional Medical Center in Kearney.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Josaphat's Catholic Church in Loup City. The Rev. Richard L. Piontkowski will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be at 1 p.m. in the Arcadia Cemetery in Arcadia. Graveside military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 251 of Arcadia and the United States Navy Funeral Honors Team.
Visitation will be Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the church, with a 5 p.m. Rosary.
Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.

Doug was born Dec. 4, 1931, at Arcadia, the son of Raymond H. and Merle D. (Webb) Holcomb. He grew up in Arcadia where he attended Arcadia Public School and graduated from Arcadia High School in 1950. After graduation he worked at the Brown Grain Elevator.
He enlisted in the United States Navy on Nov. 1, 1951 serving as a construction mechanic in Korea, Japan and the Philippines. He was discharged from active duty on Oct. 13, 1955. He then returned to Arcadia and farmed his grandmother's farm and assisted his father in his trucking business.
He was united in marriage to Donette L. Lewandowski on Oct. 26, 1957, at St. Josaphat's Catholic Church in Loup City. The couple farmed north of Arcadia and he also worked at Arcadia Hardware, for Jim Trotter and the Cornhusker Army Ammunitions Plant in Grand Island. The couple moved into Arcadia in 1967.
In 1974, he formed his own business, Holcomb Electric and Plumbing, which he operated for 40 years.
He was a member of St. Josaphat's Catholic Church. On April 19, 2003, he was baptized, confirmed and received into the church. He was also a former Dunham Schoolboard member and served on the Arcadia Town Board. He was a member of American Legion Post 251, having been a former commander, served on the Arcadia Fire Department, having been a former chief, and was an initial member of the Arcadia E.M.T.'s. He also took part in the Arcadia Fall Festival talent show for many years.
Doug enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, cutting firewood and attending his children and grandchildren's school activities, especially, Track & Field. Doug loved music and was very proud of his family.
He is survived by his wife of almost 64 years, Donette of Arcadia; children and spouses, Steven and Denise Holcomb of Arcadia, Michelle Hickman of Arcadia, Kevin and Cheryl Holcomb of Loup City, Christine and Lenny Beall of North Platte, Dianne Holcomb of Minden, Terence and Stephanie Holcomb of Grand Island, Todd Holcomb and Mary Socha of Aurora and Craig and Amy Holcomb of Gibbon; 25 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Timothy Holcomb; son-in-law, Doug Hickman; brother, Boyd Holcomb; sisters, Shirley Hruby, Shayrell Cox, and infant sister, Vaughn Leah Holcomb.
