Tom Wallace, age 83, died peacefully on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at the Carolina Care Home in Andrews, NC.

Mr. Wallace was born in Dayton, OH, February 28, 1932 to the late Loraine Ray H. and Ruth Darling Zimmerle.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Wallace Johnson of Saunderstown, RI and one grandson, Seth T. Castle of Salem, Oregon.

He graduated from Vandalia-Butler High School in 1950 and attended the University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio. "Two Hawks" was a life member of the Lower Eastern Ohio Mekocee Shawnee; served in the US Marine Corp. from 1951-1952 during the Korean Conflict. Tom was active in the Marine Corp Association in Murphy, NC. He was a lifetime member of the D.A.V. and a member of the American Legion. After retiring as a salesman from the Providence, Rhode Island and Dayton, Ohio areas, he retired in Murphy, NC.

Surviving are his wife, Joan Howard Wallace of over 25 years; his sister, Ruth Wallace Chesnut of Piqua, Ohio; daughters, Karen Roberts and husband Dan of Warwick, Rhode Island, Kristi Smith and husband Barry of Salem, Oregon and Sandy Eisenlohr and husband Scott of Torrington, Connecticut; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, cousins and the Gary Tompa family of Martin’s Creek, Murphy, NC and many friends.

They will be interred at Old Martin's Creek Cemetery on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 2 pm. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the V.F.W. Post #10222, Joe Miller Elkin American Legion Post #96 and D.A.V. Chapter #73 and American Legion Post #532 of Hayesville and V.F.W. Post #6812. .
