Daughter of Solomon Rugh and (probably) Catherine Baker. She went by the nickname Anna during her life, with the name Christiana appearing in official documents. She was married first on July 18, 1852 in Marion, Fairfield County, Ohio to Noah Y. Shisler. In 1860, the couple lived in Perry township, Putnam County, Ohio, with Noah working a a carpenter. He died between 1862 and 1870. In August 1870, Christiana lived with her children in Pulaski County, Williams County, Ohio. She was married in that county on May 7, 1871 to William Davis. He either died or they were divorced prior to 1880, when she lived in Solon township, Leelanau County, Michigan with her children. She was married third on December 25, 1884 in Solon township to James Stephen Vaudrey (sometimes spelled Vandrey). This marriage appears to have been short-lived, with Christiana reverting to her maiden name by 1900, when she was living with her son Nelson in Solon township.

Anna Davis was the mother of seven children, five whom preceded her in death. One son, Nelson Shisler, and a daughter, Mrs. Bertie Eager, survive to cherish her memory. She leaves besides the son and daughter, ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren, besides hosts of friends to mourn her death. She was a devoted mother, devoted to her home and children. She will not only be missed in the home, but by every one (Obituary, Grand Traverse Herald and Traverse Bay Eagle, January 23, 1913, page 2, column 6).
