Thurman J. McSweeny, 92, of Mesa, passed away on November 17, 2006. Thurman worked for Phelps Dodge for 25 years. He was awarded the Purple Heart, and he was a former elder for the Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife Opal McSweeny of 69 years, sons Bobby (Marla) McSweeny and Jerry (Jacque) McSweeny, grandchildren Chris (Muriel) McSweeny, Jared (Andrea) McSweeny, and Johnna Howell, great grandchildren Ian McSweeny, Abby McSweeny, Shannon Howell, and Jeffery Howell. Visitation and services will be held at Green Acres Chapel of Light, 401 N. Hayden Rd., Scottsdale on Monday, November 20. Visitation is at 12pm with services immediately following at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Chula Vista Care Center, 60 S. 58th St., Mesa, AZ 85206.
