Beulah Elam Potter was the daughter of James Franklin Elam (1863 1901) and Mary Elizabeth Newman (1872 1945). James was the son of William Barnett Elam (1813 1888) and Mary "Polly" Robertson (1823 1905). Mary was the daughter of John H. Newman and Caroline Markhum (?Marcum), who were married on August 26, 1869 in Dallas County.

Beulah Elam Lindsey was the third wife of William Henry Potter. They were married in 1919 and were the parents of three sons. With this marriage, Will became the step father of William Lee "Jack" Elam, Harold Vernon Elam and Emmitt Floyd Lindsley.

Funeral services were held Thursday for Mrs. Beulah Potter, 75, at Anderson Clayton Bros. Chapel with Rev. Duane Phy officiating. Interment was in Grove Hill. / A life time resident of Mesquite, she was born in the Pleasant Grove area & was a member of Belt Line Baptist Church. She died December 23 (1968) at Mesquite General Hospital. / Survivors are sons, Harold V. Elam, Dallas, Emmitt F. Lindsey, Mesquite, Nolan H. Potter, Dallas, James W. Potter, Long Island, N. Y.; step daughters, Mrs. Edith Johnson, Mrs. Edna Barker, and Mrs. Oma Clark, all of Dallas; brother Luther Elam; sister, Mrs. Willie Horton; half brother, T. M. Corbin, all of Dallas, 17 grand children; 11 great grandchildren.
