Clarence was the son of Tom Corbin and Mary Elizabeth Newman. He grew up on a farm in the Pleasant Grove area of Dallas County.

At the time of his death Clarence was a switchman at the Union Terminal (railroad station) in downtown Dallas. He and his wife lived on Belmont Street in Dallas. He was a veteran of World War II. He served in the 24th Division.

He was survived by his wife; his son, Clarence; two brothers, and two sisters.
