Florence M. Stewart, 89, of 90 Concord Church Road, Parker, died at 2 p.m. Tuesday at her home surrounded by her children following an extended illness. Born July 23, 1918, in Toby Township, Clarion County, she was the daughter of Henry Ward Beecher and Sarah P. Summerville McCall. She was married May 21, 1937, to Chester B. Stewart, and he preceded her in death Sept. 12, 1997. Mrs. Stewart graduated from Clarion State College and later obtained a master's degree in teaching from Indiana (Pa.) University. She was a teacher at Union and A-C Valley, with 31 years of service between the two school districts. She retired in 1982. She was a member of Concord Presbyterian Church, near West Freedom, where she served as an elder. She also belonged to the Concord Presbyterian Quilters. Surviving are two sons, William L. Stewart and his wife, Terry, of Sedona, Ariz., and Mark M. Stewart of Mesa, Ariz.; a daughter, Penny Milanovich and her husband, Gary, of Butler; six grandchildren, Valerie Tansley and her husband, Frank, of Dana Point, Calif., Grant Stewart and his wife, Shane, of Minnetonka, Minn., Marc Stewart of Hollywood, Calif., Dr. Michelle Milanovich Straka and her husband, Matthew, of Sewickley, Scott Milanovich and his wife, Jaime, of Hornell, N.Y., and Matthew Milanovich and his wife, Christal, of Chicago; a step-grandson, Tom Pifer and his wife, Lisa, of Springerville, Ariz.; 10 great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Martha Males and Margaret Barnhart; and two grandchildren, Zane and Vance Stewart.

STEWART - Friends of Florence M. Stewart, who died Tuesday, July 1, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Varner Funeral Home, Sligo. At the request of the family, there will be no visitation Friday. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Concord Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Maynard Grunstra officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Concord Presbyterian Church, 433 Dunlap Hill, Parker, PA 16049.
