Silvateen Etta "Sylvia" or "Celvia" Ball was the daughter of James Samuel "Jim" or "JS" Ball and Henrietta Ella "Etta" Chisum. She was born 18 Feb 1917 in Bowie, Montague, Texas. There are conflicting records on where she was born. Some say Bowie and some say Terral, Oklahoma. However, both siblings on either side of her were born in Bowie and the 1920 and 1930 census shows she was born in Texas. Her Texas birth certificate says she was born in Montague County, Texas.
She was the 6th of 12 children. Her parents moved to the Jefferson County, Oklahoma area around 1920. In 1934 she married Thomas Jefferson "Tommy" Dirickson. (9 Jul 1934).
Sylvia and Tommy would have 4 boys: Thomas James, Teddy Gene, Gerald D and Henry Dale. They lived in Jefferson County for a while, but moved to Marlow, Oklahoma before 1950. At least Teddy, Gerald and Henry attended High School there.
Tommy died in 1986 and Sylvia followed on 23 Mar 1996 in Marlow.
