----------

According to arriving Passenger and Crew Lists for New York, Karol Adydan, 18 years of age arrived to the port of New York on Dec. 3, 1912 having departed from the Port of Trieste. He is erroneously listed as having been married [likely that at 18 he was not married; the 1930 U.S. Census showed that he was 22 years of age when he first married]. The manifest shows that he was from the town of Wymyslow. His father is listed as Michal Adydan from Wymyslow. His final destination is Syracuse, New York to his cousin Jan Wrobel. He was 5 ft., 4 in. tall, had brown hair, brown eyes and fair complexion.

Two other travelers were also destined for Syracuse to Jan Wrobel, their brother-in-law: Szczepan Godzwon, 38 years old, farm laborer, also from the town of Wymyslow, listed his wife Marianna Godzwon; Jan Walenczuck [or Wieczorek?], 36 years old, farm laborer, from the town of Rudnick, listed his wife Agnieszka.

----------

According to the 1930 United States Federal Census, Carl and Mary Adydan resided at 406 Chemung Street in a home they owned. Carl was 36 years old and born in Poland about 1894. He immigrated to the U.s. in 1912 and his occupation was molder in a foundry. Mary was 35 and born in Poland about 1895. She immigrated to the U.S. in 1913.

Carl was 22 years old and Mary 21 when they married. Also living with them were their children: daughter Nellie (13 years old); son Stanley (11); son Edward (9); son Chester (9); and daughter Jane (5).

Their son Sergeant Stanley John Adydan, U.S. Army, died in action on February 28, 1945 in Germany. He was assigned to Company K, 3rd Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division and was with the division when they came ashore on Utah Beach on June 6, 1944, D-Day.

Their son John Eugene (who went by "Eugene") was born in July of 1930.
