Mary was born October 20, 1891 to her parents, Matej and Barbora Wesely Placek in Prague, Nebraska. She was the fourth child of seven, and the second daughter. Her siblings have all been located, except Charles (1900-1919). He was the last sibling born.

Mary lived at home until she was 29 and on June 16, 1921 in Stanton, Nebraska, she married Joseph F Volse, who was also 29 when they married. In 1926 they were blessed with a baby girl, Marjorie Mary Volse (1926-?, Marjorie married Lumir Spulak, but was later divorced. Their 3 children were Lumir, Janet, and Marilyn). I believe Viola Volse (1929-1929) is also Mary's child. Her birth and death dates just missed the census, so I have no proof. She is, however in the same cemetery.

While Mary was born in Nebraska, Joseph was born in Czechoslovakia, came to the US in 1910, and was naturalized in 1929. Joe and Mary farmed in Stanton County, Nebraska from at least 1930 through and beyond 1940. By the year of Joe's passing, they were living in Clarkson, Nebraska.

Mary lived another 10 years and also died in Clarkson, Nebraska.
