Mary married David Allen in 1865 at Fairbank, IN. They were the parents of 10 children: James W., Charles, Leota (Mrs Livingston), Walter, Mrs Heckert, Mrs Perkins, Mrs Sutterwhite, and 3 children who died in infancy.

Feb 23, 1922 - Carroll Times - Mrs David Allen, a resident of Carroll county since 1876 died at her home Friday following a stroke of paralysis a few days earlier. The funeral was held at the Baptist church Saturday afternoon.

Mrs. Allen, nee Miss Mary Johnson, was born in Ohio, January 19, 1845. She was married to David Allen at Fairbank, In., in 1865. Ten children were born, three of whom died in infancy. Mr. and Mrs. Allen came to Carroll county in 1876 and settled on a farm which they cultivated until 25 years ago, when they retired and located in Carroll. Mrs. Allen united with the Baptist church of Carroll March 20, 1894. She was faithful in attendance to all the services of her church until physical disability practically confined her to her home.

Mr. Allen died in November 1911. The following children survive: J.W. Allen, Charles Allen and Mrs. E.Y. Livingston, of Carroll; Walter Allen, and Mrs. M.C. Heckert, of Des Moines; Mrs. John Perkins, of Churdan, and Mrs. T.W. Sutterwhite, of Yakahama, Wash.
