Grandma Payne departed this life June 4, 1908, and was buried in the Wesley Chapel cemetery June 5. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Marlar. She was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church and had lived a devoted Christian life nearly 40 years. She was 69 years old. She leaves nine children and a host of friends. Don't weep, dear children; she has gone to that glory-land where sad parting comes no more. You can meet her if you will only live at the foot of the cross.
She seemed to rejoice in the last days that she lived, yet it is sad to give up mother, but our loss is her eternal gain, for she is with Him who does all things well. God is an all wise God. When he speaks each life comes into the world, and when he speaks each life goes out wheather it is at morning, noon or night. Then we only can say the Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away, blessed be the name of the lord. Let us so live that when death overtakes us we can say all is well. I am going to the glory-land to meet our loved ones there.

She has passed to the land of the mansion fair,
Singing in the soul's bright home.
She will patiently wait till they all meet there,
Singing in the Soul's bright home.
