Died in Forest Home. No maker, obit says buried here in St Pat. In Gardella plot?
Cottillo "Tillie" Gardella was one of four known children born to Joseph and Rose (Rosa) Gardella. Her siblings were Anton, Nichodemus and Rose. They lived in Oroville, CA for a period of time after moving there from Ohio. They were living with Rosa's brother Michael Gardella in Oroville before moving to Richmond, CA. I have no information on Cottillos father Joseph but by 1886 Cottillos mother Rosa was remarried to Charles Belluomini.
Cottillo married Antonio Arrighini on April 16, 1890 in Amador County, California. Cottillo and Antonio had four known children: Ruggero Martino, Grazioso Viola, Ottorino Mateo and Clotilda "Tillie" Rose.
After Cottillo passed three of the children were sent to an orphanage and listed in a newspaper article as "half-orphans". Clotilda however was not listed in the article. By the 1910 Census three of the children were back living with their father. I believe that Cottillos mother Rosa raised Clotilda as she shows up in the census records with her.

"It appears that Cottillo died close to if not right after giving birth to her daughter Clotilda. Clotilda was born February 1, 1898 and went on to marry Mr. James William McDowell. She died February 1, 1956 in Contra Costa County. We are looking for her burial information."
