Mrs. Virginia Anne Bowyer of Roanoke, Virginia passed peacefully in her sleep, at the age of 90 years old, on July 19, 2021.

Virginia was married to Mathew Justice Bowyer for 67 years.

Mat passed at the age of 93 years old on September 4, 2019.

Virginia was born on June 11, 1931 in Highland County to Harvey Wilson Austin and Olga Lucille Austin.

Virginia worked in the accounting department of West Virginia Pulp and Paper Company in Covington, at the Pentagon for the Department of the Army (where she held a security clearance), for the American Society for Photogrammetry in Falls Church, and later ran her own catering business.

Virginia was active with the Art on a Mission charity in Roanoke, and an active member of Pender United Methodist Church in Fairfax and later Thrasher United Methodist Church in Roanoke.

Virginia is survived by her daughter, Karen Bowyer-Treadway and son-in-law, Carver Treadway, of Vinton, and her son, Kevin Wilson Bowyer and daughter-in-law, Susan Jane Bowyer, and two grandsons, Mathew Ross Bowyer and James Wilson Bowyer, all of South Bend, Indiana.

The family expresses their sincere thanks to everyone at Harmony Memory Care in Roanoke, to Heartland Hospice, and to Friendship Home Care. In lieu of flowers, the family urges a donation to your local Alzheimer's Association.

A family graveside service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at Cedar Hill Cemetery with Rev. Doug Hollenbeck officiating.
