She was a 1960 graduate of Girard High School at which time she moved to Wright, Kansas where she helped care for the growing family of her sister Joan and husband Gerald Mages for several years. She worked for the Right Coop and was a homemaker and farmers wife. She later worked for the Bucklin Hospital and was a paraprofessional for Bucklin Schools as well as working at the Market in Bucklin.
She was a longtime member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Wright, Ks. and deeply loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She enjoyed volunteering in the Bucklin Community and was known as the "sugar cookie lady". Her goal each day was to serve and help make others smile.
On December 27, 1979 she married Leroy Vice at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Dodge City, Kansas. They later divorced.
Survivors include her daughter, Susan Vice Bennett and husband Mason of Bucklin, her sister, Joan Mages of Wright; 3 brothers, Pat (Norma) Butler of Manhattan, Ks. , Donald Butler of Ft. Collins, CO. and Gerald Butler of Girard, Ks.; 2 grandchildren, Bruce and Clark Bennett and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, Rosemary Bayer and Regina Butler and 2 brothers, John Joe Butler and Bob Butler.
Rosary will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 26, 2021 with the Funeral Mass immediately following both at St. Andrew Church in Wright, KS. with Fr. Ted Stoecklein and Scott Tilley officiating.
Memorials to Loretta Vice Memorial Fund to be designated at a later date in care of Minnis Mortuary.
