She was known for her love of children and was very active with the Hartsell High School family, especially during '64-'66.

Aileen Simpson Cook, 97, of Concord, passed away peacefully at home with family by her side, Thursday, July 15, 2021.
Aileen was born Aug. 2, 1923, in Union County, to the late Mark and Patsy Simpson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harry Lee Cook; son, Benny Mack Cook; nephew, Larry Hubert Hopkins; brothers, Hubert, James, Clarence, and Lester Simpson; and sisters, Ruth Hopkins, Viola Powell, and Annie Mark Styers.
Aileen was loved by so many. She'll always be remembered for her love of the Lord and church work. She loved dancing, playing checkers and spending time outdoors. Aileen had a great sense of humor and always had a positive attitude. Aileen had a big generous heart and would give you the shirt off her back. She was known for her love of children and was very active with the Hartsell High School family, especially during '64-'66.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 21, at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel in Concord. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Aileen will be laid to rest at West Concord Cemetery.
Survivors include son, Mark (Joan) Cook; daughter, Peggy (Larry) Harrington; niece, Dianne (John) Johnson; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
