PEORIA - Thomas Michael "Mike" Gronewald, 47, of Peoria died at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, 1996, at his home.

He was born Dec. 7, 1948, in Peoria to Wayne and Bernice Callery Gronewald.

Surviving are his parents of Dunlap, one brother, John of St. Paul, Minn.; three sisters, Patricia Choate of Mapleton, Rose Arnett of Princeville and Mary Grainger of Chillicothe; and 10 nieces and nephews.

He was an Army veteran.

He earned his bachelor's degree in mathematics from Illinois State University in Normal in 1971. He was employed at Caterpillar Inc. for 21 1/2 years, last working as a program analyst at the Mossville Technical Center.

He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Peoria Heights.

Services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 14 at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church in Princeville. The Revs. William A. Watson and Brian Rejsek officiated. Visitation was from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home in Princeville, with recitation of the rosary at 8 p.m. Burial was in St. Mary of the Woods Cemetery, Princeville.
