July 10, 1958 - Newell Mirror - Funeral services for Anton Bak were held Saturday, July 5 from the Nain Lutheran church in Newell. The Rev. Charles Terrell had charge of the service. Organist was Gladys Pedersen. Mrs Glenn Sanders and Cynthia Sanders provided music. Attendants were Louis Hansen, Sam Bjerre, Ernest Buch, Howard Petersen, Marius 0lsen and Glenn Sanders. Committee in charge of the flowers was Mrs L.A. Hansen, Mrs Marius Olsen, and Mrs H.C. Petersen.
Anton Jensen Bak was born on More Island, Denmark on February 4, 1868 and passed away July 3, 1958 at the Buena Vista County Hospital at the age of 90 years and 4 months.
At the age of 18 years, he immigrated to the United States, settling in the vicinity of Dwight, Illinois. December 20, 1895 he was united in marriage to Annie M. Johnsen. In 1910 they moved to Newell, Iowa, where they have lived the past 48 years.
Mr Bak is survived by his wife, Annie, two sons, Jens of Newell, and Clarence at home; two daughters, Florence (Mrs Chris Johnson of Mallard), and Myrtle (Mrs Myron Avery of Newell); four grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
One daughter Agnes, preceded him in death in 1928. His twin brother, Sam. passed away in 1935 at Dwight, Illinois. His older brother, Andrew, of Newell, passed away in 1927.
