He was born on September 14, 1938 in Rogersville, Missouri the son of the late William Lester Dunn and Norma Blanche (Hargis) Dunn. He was united in marriage June 25, 1966 to Linda Karon Utke. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Kara in 2015, and two sisters, Elaine Schooley and husband Wayne, and Nadine McCarter and husband Walt.
Vernon was born in 1938 in a log cabin on a dairy farm in Rogersville MO. His first school years were in a one-room schoolhouse. Following graduation from Rogersville, Mo, he obtained an electrical engineering degree from the Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy. He then went on to his lifetime career as an electrical engineer within the aerospace and defense contracting industry. During this time he had the opportunity to travel extensively and work on many projects including the early space program with astronauts Pete Conrad and Neal Armstrong.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda; three sons, John Dunn and his wife Julie, Brad Dunn and his wife Christine, and David Dunn; three daughters, Krista Harvey and her husband Rob, Laura Dunn, and Lynda Dunn; eight grandchildren, Tristan, Taylor, Colton, Rylan, Luke, Cason, Aliyah, and Kadence; two great-grandchildren, Bella and Noah; a brother, Elvin Dunn and his wife Sharon; a sister, Norma Matthews and her husband Richard.
Graveside service, Saturday, July 17, 2021 at White Oak Cemetery, Rogersville. No visitation was planned.
