Mrs. Edward H. Tansil died at the home of her son, L. E. Tansil at La Plata Oct. 29, 1913 after quite an extended illness due to old age having passed her 83 birthday.
Harriet Kyle was born near Columbia, Mo., July 25, 1830 was married to Edward H. Tansil in 1848 and to this union were born Bettie Tansil, Phrona Slates and L. E. Tansil--the latter being the only surviving member of the family, the father also passed away in 1899.
She united with the Presbyterian Church at the age of 16 and has been a member of that body since its organization here in our city. She was also among the early inhabitants of our city and lived here for more than half a century. Those who knew her in her active days have only the best of words for her earnest life.
The funeral of Mrs. Tansil was conducted at the Presbyterian Church by the Rev. E. Turrentine at 2 o'clock on Thursday afternoon and the remains laid to rest in the Maplewood cemetery.
