Ruby Jean Armbrust Schalchlin, daughter of Eugene Edward Armbrust and Ruby Drue Rice Armbrust was born on July 20, 1933 and passed away on August 26, 2020. She grew up among many cousins and friends in Rose City, Arkansas. One of those friends was Raymond Floyd Schalchlin whom Ruby Jean married on June 19, 1951. Raymond had already surrendered to preach and pastor and knew that the Lord had called him to be a missionary.

Ruby Jean and Raymond had four children as Raymond pastored churches in Arkansas and Kansas. Their children are Cindy Schalchlin Williams, Philip Schalchlin, Andy Schalchlin, and Tim Schalchlin. In 1966, the Schalchlins left a well-loved pastorate to go to Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, to serve as church planters. Ruby Jean and Raymond would serve in the state of Queensland, Australia, for 18 years.

Ruby Jean trained as a Licensed Practical Nurse and enjoyed serving in that capacity. She was also an accomplished pianist and children's teacher which served her well as a pastor's wife. Children and music were two loves that she remained active with her whole life, continuing to serve as a church pianist and nanny after official retirement.

Ruby Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, and one son, Philip. She is survived by her daughter, Cindy (Dan) Williams and sons, Andy (Connie) Schalchlin, and Tim Schalchlin as well as 21 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many other relatives and friends who will miss her sweetness and her sassiness.
