Irby Green Nelson, 71, of South Hill died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2008, in Community Memorial Healthcenter.
He was a retired piano tuner and technician.
He is survived by his sisters, Mary Sue Weary of Clarksville, Virgie McCann of Roxboro, N.C., Nannie Taylor and Lucy Nelson, both of Richmond; his brothers, John R. Nelson of Virgilina and Roosevelt Nelson of Nelson; sister-in-law, Charlene Holshouser and brother-in-law, Charles Gabe, both of Connelly Springs, N.C.; 24 nieces and nephews; numerous great and great-great-nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Irene Gabe Nelson; his parents, John and Berta Nelson; a sister, Lucille Allgood; and a brother, James D. Nelson.
A funeral service was conducted Tuesday in Ephesus Baptist Church, Smith Crossroads with interment in the church cemetery. The family suggest memorial contributions be directed to the American Bible Society for Braille Bibles, 1865 Broadway, New York, New York 10023-7505 of the Gideon Bible Ministry, P. O.
