Melba Smith-Broadaway-Huggins, 75, passed away on January 24, 2007, at home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William B. Smith and Lela Kinlaw-Smith; her former husband of 52 years, Joe Broadaway; and three brothers: Billy Smith, Leroy Smith, and Milton Smith.

Melba is survived by her husband, David F. Huggins of the home; two sons, Donald Broadway and his wife, Paulette, of North Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Jimmy Broadway and his wife, Renee, of Wake Forest; two daughters, Linda Williams and her husband, Dennis, of Lumberton and Pam Miller and her husband, Jeff, of St. Pauls; two brothers, Wallace Smith and Jerry Smith, both of Lumberton; a sister, Helen Wilkins of Lumberton; ten grandchildren: Harold, Aletia, Shannon, Kathan, Roxanna, Michael, Brittany, Brian, Jenifer, and Cyndal; and eight great-grandchildren: Courtney, Rachel, Paige, Taylor, Caitlin, Noah, Aaron, and Joshua.

The funeral services will be held at Hyde Park Baptist Church with the Revs. Dennis Harrell and Lynn Bullock officiating. The burial services will follow in Gardens of Faith Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Hyde Park Baptist Church, 301 Roberts Ave., Lumberton, N.C., 28358, or Green Springs Baptist Church, 1095 E. Green Springs Road, Parkton, N.C., 28371.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Floyd Mortuary and Crematory in Lumberton.
