**Please note - the grave photo is NOT Omer's marked grave. Omer and wife Amelia have unmarked graves for whatever reason. This photo is for illustration only, to show he is buried next to this marked grave. Wife Amelia is buried on the other side of the cemetery. It has come to my attention that many ancestry members have posted this photo, and cropped out the empty grass area, thinking the marker is for Omer because they didn't take the time to read the photo inscription or the entire memorial info.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Omer was the second of three children born to Daniel and Amanda (Perkins) Curd. Daniel was employed as a harness maker and the family lived in Charleston, Illinois.

Omer was the President of the Charleston Fire Department, Tom Dean Hose Company #1, in 1887. Omer moved to Oshkosh, Wisconsin in 1888, most likely because that is where his new wife's family lived. He married Amelia Schmanski on October 8, 1888 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. They had 11 children: John Warner; August Omer; Frank L.; Elmer; Vitula; infant; Corinna; Willetta; Julian Theodore; Joseph Harrington; Howard James.

Omer and Amelia lived in Oshkosh until about 1926 when they moved to Los Angeles County, California. He was employed as a woodworker for over 30 years.

At some point in time he decided to use a knife to cut a corn off of his toe, the leg got badly infected and it had to be amputated.

Omer and Amelia had a tempestuous marriage. About 1933 they were in Wisconsin visiting relatives and got into a heated argument. Omer went back to California alone and Amelia stayed in Wisconsin. When she heard that Omer had died, she chose not to go to California for his funeral. They are buried on opposite sides of the cemetery from each other.

Omer died of a heart attack. Between his wife and his seven living children, no one chose to put a marker on his grave. I think this says a lot.
