Bobby Dale Carroll was born and died in Drumright, Oklahoma. He was the oldest of six children of Woodrow W. Carroll and Ella Iola Lingle Carroll. He grew up and attended Lincoln and Edison elementary schools, then attended three years at Drumright High School where he was active in FFA. In his senior year, he joined the U.S. Air Force.

He was married to Cuma Fern Spencer and had four children, Robert, Robin, Rhonda, and Randi. (Robin died as an infant of about six months.) The couple raised their family in Stroud, Oklahoma.

Later in life, Bob bought a portion of the farm which was originally established by his grandfather, Henry Hamilton Carroll, northeast of Drumright. He married Barbara Stacey in 2014 and they lived on the Carroll farm until his death.

Bobby was a trucker for much of his life, but his greatest joy was working with horses. He was active in the Drumright Round Up Club for many years.
