Allen Avrett Jr. was born June 11, 1926 to Allen Avrett Sr. and Fannie McMillan. He passed away Friday, May 28, 2021 in Houston, Texas after a long-fought battle with Bone Cancer.

He was preceded in death by his son, Ronnie Avrett; and wife of 60 years, Dorothy Ruth Harrison Avrett whom he married January 16, 1945 in Oakland, California.

He served as a 1st Class Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy in WWII, had 4 children, Steve (Sherri), Gary (Carol), Ronnie and Rebecca "Becky" Chapman Phillips (Rick) and is survived by 3 children, 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Allen was known for his loyalty, kindness, compassion and honesty and is one of the last of a generation where a handshake was all it took to honor a commitment. His word was good as gold. Everyone who met him came to love him. He became a fan of Arlington High School where his wife and children graduated and rarely missed an Arlington High School football games since 1951 and later became a big part of their sports programs.
