He married Paula Faye Morris on January 18, 1980 and together they have one son, William Paul Buckner, who was named after both of his grandfathers, William and Paul. He is a devoted husband, father and grandfather, to his grandaughters Ashlynn Jordi Buckner, Amelia Evelyn Buckner and Eliza Ann Buckner. He is known to his family, nieces and nephews as " Tombo ".
