Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at two o'clock from the United Brethren Church, conducted by Rev. G.D. Hammontree, pastor of the church. Interment will be in the Locust Hill Cemetery.
He was the son of Isaac and Hannah (Walters) Platz and was born August 18, 1867 in LaGrange, Indiana. He came to Missouri with hisparents in 1880 settling on a farm two miles southeast of Brashear where he grew to manhood. He was married April 3, 1892 to Miss Amanda Power. Four children were born to this marriage, three of whom have preceded their father in death. One daughter, Gladys, died April 27, 1919, age 13; one son, Lawrence died suddenly April 5, 1927, age 32 and one son, Walter, died suddenly September 10, 1944. His wife died December 11, 1933.
Mr. Platz is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Dean (Esta) Hartsock of Novelty and five grandchildren.
He was the last of a family of five children. The late Walter Platz, Sr. and Joseph Platz, were brothers. After the deathj of his wife, he lived with his children until 1941 when he moved to Brashear. The greater part of his life was spent on a farm near Locust Hill.
The body will lie in state at the Easley Funeral Home until time for the service.
The pallbearers will be Elwood Platz, Stanley Platz, Ernest Platz, Delbert Hartsock, Roger Thompson and Ben Platz.
