Robby Robinson
May 12, 1944 - June 18, 2021

Ronnie Charles "Robby" Robinson passed away into the arms of Our Heavenly Father on June 18, 2021 at the age of 77 in his beloved hometown of Pensacola, FL.

The last year of his life he valiantly battled medical complications brought on by previous victories over cancer. His unwavering courage and strength of character allowed him to persevere through a series of near death experiences in 2002, 2009 and this last two months. He was born May 12, 1944 in Mobile, AL during WWII to Melba Verlee Hamilton and Andrew Leonard Robinson who was deployed in North Africa at the time. He attended Warrington and Hallmark Elementary, Blount Jr. High and graduated from Escambia High School in 1962. After graduation he attended the University of Southern Mississippi for a short time, eventually attending and graduating the top of his class from Insurance School in Tampa, FL. He married Martha Lynn Johnson of Pelahatchie, MS on March 7, 1970 at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. They had three children, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In 2021 they celebrated their 51st Wedding Anniversary.

Growing up he learned the value of hard work helping out with the family business, The White Flag Grocery where the motto was "We Surrender Low Prices". He worked the butcher counter, cashiered and helped where he was needed. He also owned a Dune Buggy and earned money at Pensacola Beach pulling tourist's and local's vehicles alike out of the sand. He lived for a brief time in Atlanta. There he repossessed cars for a debt agency and also promoted races for the Atlanta Motor Speedway. Eventually, he moved back to Pensacola where he went to work for Tony's Pizza as a Franchise Opening Manager.

After Insurance School, he was hired to go to work for State Farm Insurance as an Agent. He worked 40 years as a dedicated agent with them from 1968 until his retirement in 2008. He often stated how much he loved being an insurance agent and advised all of his children and grandchildren to make sure to pursue what they love. He said he was so thankful to have pursued the path he chose because he loved what he did and wanted the same for them.

He was a former Sertoma Club member, a longtime member of Pensacola Country Club and member of Scenic Hills Country Club. He played in Men's League Softball and served as President of Bill Bond Baseball in 1986 and 1994. He coached there in 1985 & '86; and in 1994, '95 & '96. He coached at Pensacola Optimist Baseball in 1997 & '98. He also sponsored little league teams in the community. He was a fan of Nascar, University of Alabama and Florida State University.

He was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman throughout his life. He traveled with friends to Canada and Mexico on fishing adventures; to Montana hunting elk on horseback; to Louisiana for duck hunting and Alabama for deer hunting.

He traveled extensively with his wife Lynn throughout their years together. State Farm trips to France, Germany and England. They toured various cities all over England and Scotland, staying at Bed & Breakfasts along the way. It was on this trip that he got an opportunity and played the Old Course at St. Andrews. They also went several years Bass fishing on Lake Okeechobee and on Lake Kissimmee. They joined the Gulf Coasters RV Club and made many memorable trips all over the country in the motorhome with the club and with family and friends.

To say Robby, as his friends and family affectionately called him, had a full life is an understatement. He worked hard and played hard; loved deeply and was devoted to his family. He left a legacy of cherished memories made together with the ones he loved.

Throughout his medical struggles, he found comfort and peace in his relationship with God. In his most difficult moments and brushes he would speak with certainty saying "God is so wonderful". He knew it was through Him and Him alone that he was gifted more time. More time to tell those he loved how much they meant to him and how thankful he was to have them in his life. He fought very bravely each and every day to make his family proud of him, and we are VERY proud of him and thankful for him.

To my father I say "Dad I love you, save a place for us, we will all be together again someday when God calls us each home. We love you."

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13

He is preceded in death by his mother, father, and brother, Randall Lyle Robinson.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lynn; brother, Riley (Suzanne); sister, Rita Bowen (Thomas); daughter, Kaye Worley (Craig); sons, Will (Laura) and John (Charity); grandchildren, Emily Edgar (Blake), Eden Gafford, Addison Gafford, Andrew Robinson, Savannah Worley, Benjamin Robinson, Sophia Worley and Charlee Robinson; and great-grandchildren, Owen Gafford and Addie Edgar, all of Pensacola.

Visitation will be held 10:00am with a celebration of his life to begin at 11:00am, Thursday, June 24, 2021 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Mark Cooley officiating. Burial will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.
