Charles Baracco, 97, a lifelong resident of Solvay, died Monday, June 14, 2021. Son of the late Fedele and Josephine (Conti) Baracco, he graduated from Solvay High School and attended refrigeration trade school. During World War II he served in the U.S. Naval Airborne division patrolling the Atlantic Ocean as a tail gunner on a PBM Mariner sea plane. He was a long time employee and eventual owner of Fava Refrigeration Co. Chuck was an enthusiastic golfer and bowler and a diehard Yankee fan. He loved SU athletics, cooking and an occasional Scotch or two. He wintered in Venice, FL which allowed him to golf year round. He proudly shot his age or under, every year since the age of 71. Chuck and his wife Kate enjoyed competitive ballroom dancing and brought home several trophies. He was always in high demand on the dancefloor. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Cecilia's and currently a parishioner of St. Charles-St. Ann's, a former member of St. Cecilia's Holy Name Society, Solvay-Geddes Vets, Stanley B. Pennock VFW Post 2893, American Legion (FL.) and R.S.E.S. He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, the former Catherine Lombardi, son, Charles (Karen Ann) Baracco, of Syracuse, daughter, Teresa (Keith) Condon, of Syracuse, grandchildren, Nicole (Scott) Nettune, Charles (Lindsey) Baracco, Michael (Charlotte) Baracco, Aubrey (Craig) Lockwood, Andrew (Dr. Ewelina) Condon, Brianna (Ben Bengert, fiance), great grandchildren, Bennett, Lara, Charles Nettune, Isla, Laney, Esmae, Arthur, Hadley Baracco, brother-in-law, Dominick (Laurianna) Lombardi, sister-in-law, Patricia Relyea and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Arthur (Norma) Baracco, Angela (Robert) Tacy and Jane (Carlo) DeMarchi. Calling hours will be from 4-7 pm Friday June 18th at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, 2601 Milton Ave, Solvay. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 am Saturday June 19th at St. Marianne Cope Parish-Cecilia Church, Solvay. Entombment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt.
