Obituary for Adelene Pardo

Adelene Cullum Pardo, age 87, long time resident of Alvin, Texas, passed away on September 16, 2020. She was a long time member of St. Helen Catholic Church in Pearland, Texas.
Adelene was born in Houston, Texas on September 29, 1932 to Hector T. Cullum of London, England and Lena DeGeorge Cullum of Texarkana, Arkansas.

Adelene is preceded in death by her late husband, Louis Adrian Pardo, her parents Hector T. Cullum and Lena Cullum, her brother, Horace G. Cullum.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Estella Pardo Gordon and Husband Edward, brother in law Bobby Pardo and wife Kathryn, niece, Katherine Brogan and husband Michael, great nieces; Kelly Hewitt and husband Justin and Julie Carlson and husband John, and many other nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by many beloved friends; Barbara and Ken Lindsey and all the members of the Tsafantakis family, Gary Idoux, Becky Franklin, Chris Kite, Paula Colins, former clients, members of the kennel clubs, many members of the Pearland Lions and Pearland Lioness Club and residence and staff members of Colonial Oaks Assisted Living facility.

Adelene was regarded by many in the dog show world as one of Texas most colorful character. She was highly respected and Nationally known as a trainer and teacher. She traveled the country and abroad as acclaimed Sporting Group and Best in Show Judge. Mrs. Pardo has been involved in training and showing dogs for more than 50 years. As a licensed all-breed professional handler, she finished hundreds of dogs using the loose-lead style of handling. In the 60's Adelene showed several of her Champion Weimaraner's to placements in the National breed standings. As early as 5 years ago, Adelene conducted private lessons in the area of dog handling, held seminars at dog shows and served as a judge in an active AKC Sporting Group. She was a board member of Weimaraner National Kennel Club and San Jacinto, Galveston and Brazoria Kennel Club. Adelene's dog show career and handling techniques are the subject of her book "Loose Lead" The Life and Dog-Training Secrets of Texas Legend Adelene Pardo.

She also served as President of the Pearland Lioness Club and was an active and contributing member for many years.
