Donald Marsh Bennett

1937 - 2021

Donald Marsh Bennett, a devoted disciple of Jesus Christ, died June 10, 2021 at the age of 84 from the devastating effects of Alzheimer's Disease.

Born June 1, 1937, in American Fork, Utah, to Karl Holman and Hannah Celestia Devey Bennett.

He served an honorable mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Gulf States Mission covering West Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi.

Soon after his return Don married his high school sweetheart, Enid Wilson, December 18, 1959 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

He received a BS degree in business management from BYU.

Don was briefly employed at United California Bank in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Oakland before returning to Utah.

He worked at Zion's First National Bank until he retired in January 1999.

His assignments took him to the Cottonwood Mall, Sugar House and Kanab branches.

The majority of his 33 years employment was at the main office in the Kennecott building, working with commercial loans.

Don and Enid gladly welcomed four children into their family: Eric, Camille, Bradley, and Melissa.

They lived near the Val Verde area of Bountiful, American Fork, Kanab and Cottonwood Heights.

Don readily accepted a variety of Church callings including bishop of the Butler 33rd Ward in the Butler West Stake.

After retirement he served in the finance department at the Jordan River Temple, and volunteered in worldwide support as FamilySearch was in the experimental phase.

He was passionate about family history and photography.

He and Enid were service missionaries in the SLC Harmony Park Ward before accepting an 18-mo mission call to the Ohio Cleveland Mission.

Their assignment to Historic Kirtland (2002-2003) was a dream come true.

They moved to The Cottages at Temple View in South Jordan where they were members of 4 different wards.

They returned to Historic Kirtland for another 12 months (2005-2006) at the request of Elder and Sister Woodbury, site directors.

As dementia crept deeper into their lives, Don and Enid dramatically downsized and moved to an adult planned life community, Summit Vista, in Taylorsville in 2018.

The couple celebrated their 60th anniversary with a lovely party there in 2019.

Don moved to Summit Senior Living and Memory Care October 2020 where he was lovingly cared for by their staff.

The family gives special thanks to his Elevation Hospice nurse, Alissa Savage, and aide, Archie Guerrero, who have gone way beyond what was expected in visiting and caring for Don.

Don is survived by his wife, Enid, two sons Eric (Marilou); Bradley (Pamela); two daughters Camille Brittain; Melissa (Len) Mondragon; three sisters Geraldine (Ralph) Pratt; Carole Walker; Susan (Gardner) Harris; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Bruce Walker.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 18, 2021 at 11:00 am at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway (10600 S), South Jordan, Utah, with a viewing from 9:30-10:40 am prior to the service.
