REBECCA LUCY ELLIOTT BRYARLY-MATHEWS_BOLIN was born on 12 August 1846, at Mount Vernon, Titus County, Texas, and was the daughter of Thomas F. Bryarly & Minerva Ann Hodge.

(NOTE: Franklin County lines were drawn in March 1875 out of it's parent county, Titus. Mount Vernon was originally part of TITUS COUNTY, until it was named as the County seat of Franklin County on April 30, 1875, about 29 years after Lucy was born).

Rebecca was first married just before the Civil War. The young man [Mr. Elliott?] never returned, and the family does not have a record of his name since the courthouse burned, but they believe he was killed in the war. This is a riddle descendants are interested in solving. Any help with a marriage bond, the young soldier's name, or where he may have been laid to rest would be greatly appreciated.

Rebecca's second marriage was to Oliver Augustus Matthews circa 1858 in Titus County, Texas. Lucy and Oliver had five children during the course of their marriage. After Oliver passed away, Lucy married Francis Wright Bolin on 08 January 1880 in Texas. Lucy and Francis had four children.

Lucy passed away in 1929, and was buried at the Wheatville Cemetery in Naples, Morris County, Texas.
