Married Hazel Ballew, daughter of Lonnie Lee Ballew and Rosie (Chaney) Ballew, on 3 Nov 1962, in Haralson County, Georgia.

Obituary:
Mr. Billy W. McElroy, age 78, of Tallapoosa, GA, passed away June 2, 2021.

He was born February 19, 1943, in Cleburne County, AL, to the late Albert and Ada Upchurch McElroy.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his two brothers and a sister-in-law, Earnest and Nell McElroy and Vernon McElroy; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Eunice and CW Smith and Willie Mae and Elvin Hicks.

Billy served in the United States Air Force from September 1961 to September 1965. He was a devoted member of Mt. Zion West Baptist Church, where he held multiple positions, including Church Music Director. He was an avid singer and songwriter and served as President of the Haralson County School of Gospel Music for many years.

Billy is survived by his beloved wife, Hazel Ballew McElroy; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Randy Lummus, of Alpharetta, GA and Cindy and Jim Davis, of Tucson, AZ; four grandchildren and spouses, Alan and Sarah McElroy, Lee and Valerie Davis, Michael Davis, and Hayden Lummus; six great grandchildren, Hazel McElroy, Henry McElroy, JB McElroy, Liam McElroy, Bella Ratner, and Bradley Davis; and a sister, Marie Powell, of Bay Minette, AL.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 5, 2021, at 1:00PM at Mt. Zion West Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Brown and Rev. Alan McElroy officiating. He will lie in state at the church from 12:00PM until the funeral hour. Dear friend, June Walker will provide music.

Gentlemen serving as pallbearers will be Lee Davis, Michael Davis, Hayden Lummus, Mike Loera, Randy Lummus, Charles Smith, and Bradley Davis.

The men of Mt. Zion West will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Interment will follow in Hollywood Cemetery with the Haralson County Veterans Association providing military honors.

The family will receive friends Friday evening between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00PM.
