"Mrs. Joseph Albracht - Mrs. Joseph Albracht passed away Monday evening at 9 o'clock. She had been confined to her bed since last Saturday with pneumonia which affected her heart and death followed within a few days. With her passing there is gone a kindly woman, a good wife and mother. As Mary Sithoff, she was born at Burew, Westfahlen (sic), Germany in February, 1847. She was married in Germany to Joseph Albracht and immediately after their marriage they immigrated to America. They came to St. Louis, where they lived for ten years, after which they came to Platte county and moved to a farm about four miles south of here, where they lived for 32 years. They retired from farming and moved to St. Bernard, where they lived up to this time. About two years ago they celebrated their golden jubliee. Surviving Mrs. Albracht are her aged husband, five daughters - Mrs. Mary Ball, of Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Joe Heiman, Mrs. Charlie Schaecher, Mrs. Andrew Baesche and Mrs. Henry Keimig - and five sons - Jos. Albracht, of Texas; Henry Albracht, of Lindsay; Frank Albract (sic), John Albracht, (5th son not listed). Three of her children are dead. She leaves to mourn her loss seventy-five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Mrs. Albract was a devoted member of the Catholic church and Christian Mother's society and the Third Order of St. Francis. Funeral services were held Thursday, morning at 9 o'clock with a requiem high mass, and the remains laid to rest in the St. Bernard cemetery." (newspaper unknown, 1 Apr 1922)
