"WALTER D. HAYS IS KILLED WHEN STRUCK BY AUTO IN MIAMI
------------
Mr. Walter D. Hays, former citizen of this city, was instantly killed on Saturday night in Miami, Fla., when he was struck by an automobile driven by Charles Tobin, according to information received by local relatives. Following an inquest by Miami authorities, Tobin was exonorated, the accident being unavoidable, witnesses said.

The remains will arrive in the city tomorrow morning on No. 26, and taken to the home of his brother, Mr. John Hays on West First North street. Funeral services will be held at 2 p m., at the Centenary M. F. Church Tuesday, conducted by Rev. J. E. Milburn, pastor, assisted by Rev. J M. Seig. Interment will be in Bethesda cemetery.

"Dick" as he was known by all his friends here was manager of the Morristown Steam Laundry for many years, and later went into the insurance business. He left here about five months ago, going to Atlanta, and later went to Miami. He is survived by two brothers, Mr. J. D. Hays of Russellville, and Mr. John G. Hays of this city; also by three sisters Mrs. C. L. Morris and Mrs. J. E. Harris of Knoxville, Mrs. H. E. Cain of Saskatoon, Sask., Canada.

Serving as pallbearers will be Messrs. J. E. Burke, J. B. Neill, Harry Miller, Robt. Russell, Hugh and Frank Miller."
