Thomas Dyson is the husband of Anna Roby. She is actually his cousin. Anna was born to John B. and Martha (Dyson) Robey. Anna was born in 1805 in Iredell County, North Carolina.

Thomas Dyson emigrated to Missouri in 1831.

He served in the Revolutionary War. He was in the 2 North Carolina Regiment and the 8 North Carolina Regiment (as a Private).

He and his wife had 7 children. Emily, Manless, Elam, John, Franklin, Absalom, and Barton.

***It is not known with 100% certainty that Thomas is buried here next to his beloved wife Anna. There is someone buried right next to her listed as "unknown" by the Gasconade County Cemetery Survey Book 1985 by the Gasconade County Historical Society.
On pg 205 of the Gasconade County Missouri Family History Book Volume II the following statement: "It is believed he is buried in the unmarked grave, in the New Salem Cemetery near Owensville, next to Anna who died in 1877."

I have personally gone and seen Anna's grave stone and the plot to the left of her stone. I believe that is where her husband Thomas is buried without a marker.

The last census record that Thomas is found on is the 1880 Canaan, Gasconade, MO census. His daughter Emily Maupin has died (1877) and Thomas is found living with his son-in-law George Maupin and three of his grandchildren.

Thomas outlived all of his children except for his son Manless (who was 40 at the time). I believe Manless most likely made sure his parents were buried next to each other.

I am choosing to recognize this Revolutionary War Hero in my family tree by making this memorial page for him. I have posted a copy of page 159 from that book. I do not want him lost and forgotten.
I strongly suggest you read the memorial page for Elam Dyson for further info. It is #6552863.
Respectfully submitted to honor my 4 great grandfather, who was known as a "worthy old gentleman."
