Funeral services for James Adam Marshall, former Lapoint resident, were held Wednesday, March 6, 1974 at 10 a.m. in the Fontana LDS Ward Chapel, Fontana, California, under the direction of Ingold Chapel Funeral Home.
Family prayer at the mortuary was given by Leroy D. Gray, a son-in-law. Prelude and postlude music was by Mary Cartwright. A vocal solo "Oh My Father" was rendered by Shane Greer, accompanied by Mary Courtwright. Invocation was pronounced by James Ray. The speaker was Wilford Adams, a brother-in-law. The second speaker was Ashley Bartlett, also a brother-in-law. A vocal solo "In the Garden" was sung by Yvonne Roe, accompanied by Mary Courtwright. Benediction was pronounced by WElland Rice. Interment was in the Green Acres Memorial Gardens, Bloomington, California. The grave was dedicated by Jay Cook, a nephew-in-law. Pallbearers were Gary Marshall, Kenneth Marshall, John Ramsey, Russell Vernon, grandsons, and Speirs Wilson and Kay Jarrell, Nephews.
Mr. Marshall died March 2, 1974 at the Kaiser Hospital in Fontana, California. He was born May 17, 1895, Gladesborro, Carroll County, Virginia to William Calvin and Clara Bell Bowman Marshall. He married Zora Jarrell, January 20, 1916 in Vernal, Utah. Survivors: widow, Fontana, California, a so, James Paul, Arcadia, California, daughters: Mrs. Morris (Helen) Vernon, Vernal; Mrs. L. D. (Marian) Gray, San Jose, California; Mrs. Don (Edith) Peterson, Louisville, Nebraska; Mrs. Charles (Joyce) Gulley, Loomis, California; Mrs. R.[?] C. (Clara) Ramsey, New Caslte, California; 21 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Earl F., Murray, Utah, sisters, Mrs. Wilford (Glenna) Adams, Vernal, Mrs. Ashley (Pearlie) Bartlett, Mrs. Irma Wilson, both Fontana, and Mrs. Lima M. Jarrell, Las Vegas, Nevada.
Those attending the services from Vernal were Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Adams, Mrs. Lawrence Adams, Mr. and Mrs. Morris Vernon, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Vernon and Scott, and Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Taylor, Lapoint.
