Eileen Charlton, 98, of New Castle passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at Addison Place in New Castle. She was born May 28, 1922 in Henry County, Indiana, a daughter of the late Charles T and Myrtle (Ellis) Huffman.
Eileen was a member of the First Friends Meeting in New Castle and had resided at Raintree Square for the past 10 years. She was a former member of the Eastern Star and played in several bridge clubs. Eileen had been employed with Thalls Insurance Agency for 16 years. She was a stay at home mom before going to work, when her youngest child was a senior. Eileen made Barbie clothes, selling them at bazaars in town and had a passion for crocheting. She loved being a farm wife and mother.
Survivors include her three children, Steven (Sue) Charlton of Columbus, Rosalie (Dan) Earnest of Spiceland and William "Bill" (Marilyn) Charlton of New Castle; six grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; son-in-law, Don Alley of New Castle.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Charlton; daughter, Sheryl Alley; two brothers, Enos and Elgin Huffman and three sisters, Louise Goodwin, Leatha Rogers and Thelca Smalley; two granddaughters, Shanna Charlton Duff and Cara Alley Smith; one great grandson, Steven Wesley Charlton.
Services will be at 1pm Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Hinsey- Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Rick Schoeff officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11- 1pm Saturday prior to the service. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the First Friends Meeting, 503 S.
