RUMFORD - Lila B. Farrington, 87, died peacefully surrounded by her family, Saturday, Aug. 12, [2000] at the Rumford Community Home. Formerly of East Andover, she has resided in Rumford since 1979.
She was born in Rumford on October 15,1912, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Donahue) Murphy, and had attended Mexico schools.
From 1960 to 1979 Mrs. Farrington was employed at Swain's Dowel Mill in East Andover until her retirement in 1979. She was a charter member of the East Andover Community Club for 47 years and served as vice president and secretary and was made an honorary member in 1992. She had also served as a Girl Scout leader.
She was married in Mexico on Dec. 16, 1931, to the late John Everett Farrington who died in Dixfield on April 16, 1995.
Survivors include six daughters, Mrs. Mary White of Livermore, Mrs. Joseph (Geraldine) Parise of Rumford, Mrs. Daniel (June) Trenoweth of Mexico, Mrs. Albert (Carole) Nelson, Jr. of East Stoneham, Mrs. Richard (Linda) Theriault of So. Rumford, and Mrs. Keith (Bonnie) Vashaw of Rumford; two sons, Frank of Norway and Reginald of Stafford Springs. Conn.; a sister, Mrs. Inaze Stinchfield of Rumford; a brother John E. Murphy of Peru; 28 grandchildren; 50 great-grand children; and 12 great-great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by a daughter Gloria Joanne Farrington.
