Alene W. Grisso, 84, of Roanoke and formerly of Bluefield, passed away Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007. She was a member of Virginia Heights Baptist Church (Roanoke) and a former member of College Avenue Baptist Church in Bluefield.

Mrs. Grisso was retired from the Bluefield Public Library System. She was a loving wife and a devoted mother and grandmother.

She was the widow of Douglas C. Grisso and was preceded in death by a brother, Harold E. Wright.

Surviving is son, James D. Grisso and wife, Goldie, Craig County; daughters, Sue Parks and husband, Dudley, Roanoke; Janice Woodward and husband, John, Bluefield; and Mary Beth Modena and husband, David, Midlothian, Va.; grandchildren, Cherie Hicks and husband, Bill; Cinnamon Dooley and husband, Chris; Michael Parks and wife, Kathy; Steven Parks; Abram Woodward and wife, Lisa; Sara Woodward; Paige, Amy and Erin Modena; great grandchildren, Cager, Brody, Dawson, and Ainslee Hicks; Catelyn Dooley; and Ava Claire Parks; brother, Clyde J. Wright, Cincinnati, Ohio and lifelong friend, Kathryn Carter.

The family will receive friends 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Oakey's South Chapel, Roanoke prior to the service. Funeral Services will be 4:00 p.m. today (Wednesday) with the Rev. C. Nelson Harris and Dr. Marvin Barbre officiating. A graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Bluefield with Pastor Howard Finkel officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice, 3825-A Electric Rd. SW, Roanoke, VA 24018, or Virginia Heights Baptist Church, 2014 Memorial Ave. SW, Roanoke, VA 24015.
