Nola Marks Hicks, 99, of Little Rock, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 5, 2019. She was born April 27, 1920 to William H. Bethards and Mary S. McKinney. She was very outgoing and never met a stranger. Nola was of the Methodist faith. She was a hard-working mother who lived a long, good life. Her accomplishments and talents in life were notable- as she began as a beautician, but then owned and operated a store and farm in Phillips County with her first husband, Murphy, and retired into China painting, even taking on the role of painting instructor and was a member of the World China Organization where you can find some of her artwork displayed at their museum in Oklahoma City. Her memory will be cherished and her legacy will continue on through those who loved and cared for her.
Nola is preceded in death by her parents, each of her husbands, Murphy A. Marks and Henry "Doc" Hicks; her siblings, Thomas, Mildred, Louise, Elizabeth, Buck, J.W., and Charles.
