He was born to William Henry and Mary Susan Bethards. Mr. Bethards served during World War II at Normandy and in central Europe and was a member of the last active U. S. Mounted Cavalry. He worked for Boeing Aircraft and for Reynolds Mining Co. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Bethards and John "J.W." Bethards; and three sisters, Mildred Crouch, Elizabeth Bullock and Louise Nicklaus. Survivors include one brother, Charles Bethards; two sisters, Nola Marie Hicks and Bobbie Owens.
