Thomas Albert Cunningham, 85, of Paris died Wednesday, Sep. 20, 1995 at McCuistion Regional Medical Center.

A private committal service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Sep. 23, in Restland Cemetery at Roxton. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Paris with the Rev. Jim Keith officiating.

The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m. Friday at Gene Roden's Sons Funeral Home.

Mr. Cunningham was born November 25, 1909 in Lamar County, a son of Dorus Evans and Verda Jane Abels Cunningham. He married Nellie Mae Kirkham September 8, 1929. She preceded him in death on Dec. 11, 1987.

He attended schools in Howland and graduated from Paris High School in 1928. He attended Paris Commercial College, Kansas University Extension and Texas University Extension. He retired July 1, 1974, after 30 years with the U.S. Civil Service. He also worked at Paris Milling Co. in the accounting department for seven years. He was a board member of First United Methodist Church and former member of the Methodist Men and the church's choir. He was a former member of the Noon Optimist Club and was organist/director for Garrett Memorial Methodist Church for 16 years. He had also served as staff organist at Gene Roden's Sons Funeral Home from 1978 until retiring in 1993.

He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Jeffrey Cunningham, in 1991.

Surviving are a son, James A. Cunningham of Paris; daughter, Dorothy Nell Cunningham Linnabery of Paris; sister, Doris Edith Cunningham (David Lovell) Sandefur of Temple; a stepsister, Mrs. Joe Bills of Marshall; two half-sisters, Mrs. Van E. Scott of Pottsboro and Mrs. Eddie Lou Tudor (Leo Lynn) Bailey of Kingsville; 6 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
