Jeffry Howe Ashton was born Wednesday, November 28, 1945 in Great Falls, Montana to Milton Pettit and Ann Howe Ashton.

He married his sweetheart, Joyce Irene Shaw, on March 2, 1973 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Jeffry moved to Utah in 1949. He graduated from East High School. He worked as a custodian for the LDS Church. He was a member of the LDS Church - serving faithfully in many church callings.

He was an avid and creative journal writer. He loved nature - especially the mountains - he loved animals and was an avid rockhound. He loved his children and grandchildren - teaching them the work ethic by having them work beside him. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather.

He passed away peacefully on Monday, July 3, 2006 at his home in West Valley City while surrounded by his loving family.

Jeffry left to cherish his memory his wife Joyce, children Jennifer Ann Ashton, Jeffry James (Linda) Ashton and Joseph Milton (Tavia) Ashton. He was also survived by his grandchildren Talon Jason Drake, Connor James Ashton, Kaelyn Reagan Ashton, Andre Allen Webb; brother Milton Howe (Linda) Ashton; sister Ruth Ann (Robert) Nelson and sisters-in-law Renae Ashton and Marie Ashton. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Richard Howe Ashton and Glen Howe Ashton and sister Chloe Ann Ashton.

Funeral Services were held on Friday, July 7, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the Jordan North Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 3900 South 4000 West in West Valley City. A viewing was held on Thursday, July 6, 2006 at the Church from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the services on Friday.
Jeffry was laid to rest following the conclusion of the Funeral Services in the Valley View Memorial Park in West Valley City.
