Russell R. Deskins, 89 of Topeka passed away on Wednesday, March 7 2007 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. He was born September 14 1918 at Lawrence, Kansas the son of Roy R. and Martha Bidinger Deskins. He graduated from Lawrence High School. He entered the service and was a US Army veteran serving during World War II. He served at Okinawa as a telephone lineman while in the army. Russell was an irrigation pump salesman in Kansas and Missouri for the Jacuzzi Brothers for many years. He lived at Sunrise Beach, MO for nearly 30 years before returning to Topeka just a few years ago. He was married to Nadine Mattingly, they later divorced. Nadine passed away in 1992. Survivors include two daughters, Linda Lewis of Topeka and Shirley Blair of Rio Linda, CA; sister, Helen Brune of Meriden; four grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be provided by Post #400 of the American Legion at Davidson Funeral Home at 1:00 pm Thursday March 8th. Russell R. Deskins
