Joseph was the son of Casper Ahart and Josephine Mohr. He married Mary Ruth Kelley on Dec. 19, 1912, at Sioux City, IA. They were the parents of Enos "Bud", Doris, LaVern, Katheryn, and Neal.

Storm Lake Register - Monday , May 1st, 1972 - Joseph Anthony Ahart, son of Casper and Josephine Mohr Ahart, was born at Dow City, Nov 26, 1885. He moved to Crofton, Neb., in 1909. He was united in marriage to Ruth Kelly on Dec. 19, 1912, at Sioux City. To this union were born five children, four of whom survive. They lived on a farm near Crofton, Neb., until 1925 when they moved to Aurora, Colo. From there they moved to Ft. Morgan, Colo., and in 1930 to a farm near Early. They moved to Storm Lake in 1933 and have resided in this community since. The last 24 years they have lived in Storm Lake.

Mr. Ahart had been a farmer the most of his life. As a friend and a neighbor, he was genial, kind and obliging. The hospitality of his home provided a welcome for all who came. Church Membership Mr. Ahart was a member of the First Presbyterian church of Alta which he attended faithfully as long as his health permitted.

He passed away at the Buena Vista County hospital April 20, 1972, after a lingering illness at the age of 86 years, five months, and 20 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Doris, Mrs. Harold Gustafson, five brothers and two sisters

Surviving are his wife, Ruth; two sons, Enos of Storm Lake and Rev. Neal Ahart, of Philip, S. D.;
two daughters, Kathryn, Mrs Wesley Wadsworth of Belmont, Calif; and La Verne, Mrs. Walter
Dierenfield, of Storm Lake; 16 grandchildren, 16 greatgrandchildren and other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held on Monday, April 24, at 2 p.m. from the First Presbyterian church in
Alta with Rev Clarence Beard officiating Hymn selections "The Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Thou Art" were sung by Mrs Carol Carpenter and Mrs Wilber Pierson accompanied at the organ by Ruth Beard. Attendants were Arnold Shilling, Larry Huntley, Ronald Dierenfield, Eugene Dierenfield, Fred Krueger and Lawrence Ahart. Floral tributes were cared for by Geneva Watson and Ada Espe. Interment was in the Buena Vista Memorial Park cemetery under direction of the Jones funeral home of Alta.
